How to get a strip of perfect brown sugar bacon?
The oven must be HOT. The temperature setting has to be 200ºC (400ºF) to get a nice and crispy exterior.
The timing is also important. It will depend on the finish you are looking for. If you desire a chewier result 5-8 minutes is enough but if you are like me and you want a big crunch the cooking time must be 10-12 minutes. Just check every now and then the bacon to make sure you get the result you want.
My personal touch, besides the two main ingredients — bacon and brown sugar, duh! —- is a pinch of cinnamon that gives that earthy fragrance to the caramelized bacon. This takes this bacon to another level of yumminess.
Another trick is to use foil underneath the bacon to get a maximum crispness and it will make the cleaning a lot easier.
I hope you enjoy this recipe and I see you in the next one!
- 8 bacon strips
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 200ºC (400ºF)
Mix the brown sugar with the cinnamon.
Coat well the bacon strips and place them in the oven tray covered in foil. Make sure that each strip has enough space and that they are not overcrowded.
Cook for 7-10 minutes.
