Easy Peasy Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug

Sharing is caring!

This chocolate chip cookie in a mug is the perfect single-serving dessert for cookie lovers out there.

Another sweet mug recipe here in the blog because… I’m just the laziest baker in the world.

Also, my vanilla mug cake and chocolate mug cake have been such a hit here in the blog, that I couldn’t keep this recipe for myself for so long.

And if you’ve been here for a while you will probably know that dense, chewy cookies are my pitfall. I live for a chewy vanilla cookie. Nevertheless, I can’t be making huge batches of cookies every day for the love of my waistline.

Cookie in a mug is kind of a mood. You want sweet and you want it NOW. Rainy weather and I couldn’t bring myself to the supermarket…. that is the moment for a cookie in a mug.

The best part? Chocolate chips that melt into gooey cookie heaven. Now that we are both drooling over this mental image, let’s talk business:

How to make chocolate chips cookie mug?

Because I’m a “woman of her word”, this is going to be a no-brainer recipe.

Staple ingredients in the pantry:

  • 1 tbsp salted butter
  • ½ tbsp white granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chip

+ 1 fork

+ 1 mug

First, I melt the salted butter. Yes, you read it right, SALTED. I like to add a pinch of salt on all my desserts to enhance the flavor.

Then I add both sugars, vanilla extract, and the yolk.

Finally, add the flour and the chocolate chips. Mix until the batter is completely homogeneous. We don’t want a clump of flour in our cookie.

This is a dense batter. Take the time to mix well and to get a smooth batter. This will ensure an extra chewy cookie in a mug.

Then it’s time to “bake” in the microwave for about 60 seconds.

Here comes a bit of advice about baking in a microwave: every microwave is different. I’ve had multiple microwaves in my life, and I never get a consistent experience.

A general rule is that it’s better to undercook than overcook. You can always add 20 seconds at the time and check the progress. If it gets overcooked, there is no way to fix it.

So, I bake for 40 seconds, and then I add 20 seconds more if needed.

Soon, you’ll catch the timing of your microwave.

What else can I add to the cookie?

You can add the same extras that you would add to a regular vanilla cookie. My favorite mix is a tbsp of peanut butter.

Other options:

  • White chocolate chips
  • Dry cranberries
  • Sprinkles
  • Reese’s (add 1 regular size Reese’s in the center of the cookie)
  • M&M
  • Chopped walnuts
  • Peanut Butter
  • Almond Butter

Also, a scoop of ice cream makes this warm cookie even yummier. Cookie heaven combination right here.
