Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate

Sharing is caring!

What else can I add to “Peanut butter hot chocolate”? Two of my favorite guilty pleasures in one mug. Add some marshmallows and crunchy peanut and I have a winter winner beverage.

Peanut butter is 100% an American thing. I mean, in South America we’re used to seeing peanut butter in the international section of the grocery store. But most of us don’t know what to do with it (also, it’s kind of expensive over there). For that reason, I only tried peanut butter for the first time 3 years ago.

So, as you may imagine, for me something like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was a kind of revelation in my early 20s. Soon it became my little obsession—until I discovered that it is highly caloric and now I use it only for some cravings.

But now it’s winter and I just want a big hug of coziness. So I’m getting all my decadent and indulgent recipes a go for the month. Counting calories will begin in January. Oh, January, I don’t like you, you are my Monday of the year 🙁

My favorite topping for a hot chocolate will always be whipped cream. However, to vary things a little bit I decided to use some marshmallows, toasted peanuts (preferably not the salted ones) and melted peanut butter to make it look pretty. It is just a cute winter beverage, don’t you think?

If you are a hot chocolate lover like me but you want a boozy and sassy option, you can try my orange and Cointreau hot chocolate!
