This is the easiest and quickest recipe for a crack slaw. This keto friendly meat with cabbage and a lot of oriental flavors are here to stay. It’s a quick dinner idea that takes less than 15 minutes!
What is crack slaw?
Crack slaw is an Asian stir fry that consists of ground meat — preferable lean meat — and cabbage. Also, turkey meat is a good option for those that want to cut some calories.
You can add other things like carrots, onions, peppers, green onion, etc. Today I’m keeping the recipe basic so you can later on add as many extras as you want.
This recipe has become quite popular in the last years because it’s a keto and low carb friendly recipe. I’m not a keto diet expert but if you are following that type of eating style this recipe is one of the easiest.

Also, the ingredients are easy to find. The most “exotic” ingredients are the ones used as seasoning: rice vinegar (you can use cider vinegar as a substitute), sesame oil and dark soy sauce. You can find these ingredients in any supermarket international section.
How to make crack slaw?
As I promised, this recipe has one of the easiest preparation methods. You just need one pan — fewer dishes to clean — and toss the ingredients and let them cook.
It’s as basic as this.
The first thing I like to do is to cook the meat alone. Then I set it aside in the same pan and add the garlic and the sesame oil, so the pan is half-filled with meat and half garlic and sesame oil. This way the garlic releases the flavor. Just cook it for 1 or 2 minutes stirring constantly to avoid burning the garlic and adding a bitter flavor to the crack slaw.
Then, add the coleslaw mix or the thinly sliced cabbage. I use the purple and white mix because I like the colorful touch in my crack slaw. Let the cabbage wilt and release some water and then add all the seasoning. Taste before adding the salt. The soy sauce has a lot of sodium and surely you will need less salt than in any other ground meat recipe.
Finally, sprinkle with some sesame seeds and now you have a big pan of keto crack slaw in less than 15 minutes!
