Oven-baked parmesan garlic broccolini is an easy and healthy side dish that doesn’t require a ton of time or effort.
This is a toss-and-done type of recipe. You only need one baking pan and a few minutes for prep. The rest of the recipe is to take the broccolini to the oven for 20 minutes and you are done.
I always have this recipe in hand when I’m in the need of a nice portion of vegetables that taste ridiculously yummy. Eating your veggies doesn’t have to be boring or bland.
I believe that most of the people that say “I hate vegetables” hasn’t had a correctly seasoned vegetable plate. It’s all about the extras. Salt and pepper it’s not enough.
I never try to “hide” the veggies. Instead, I look for spices or ingredients that enhance the overall flavor.
For this recipe, I couldn’t think of a better flavor combo than parmesan cheese and garlic. It’s a bomb that makes the broccolini shine.

What is broccolini?
In recent years, broccolini has become popular in the healthy living niche. There are a ton of reasons why broccolini is a great addition to a healthy diet. They have a lot of benefits for your skin, gut and overall health.
Broccolini, AKA Bimi, is pretty similar in shape and taste to regular broccoli. They have long and thin stalks with small florets.
Bimi is a hybrid between broccoli and Chinese brócolis (gai-lan). They have the best of two worlds.
They are sweet, delicate and tender which makes them great for sautees and as a side dish for fish.

How to cook Broccolini?
Broccolini is pretty versatile. You can steam it, boil it, bake it or even pan sear it.
The option that I like less is boiling it. Boiling reduces the vitamins that are water-soluble and when you throw away the water you are losing a bunch of micronutrients.
Instead, you can steam the broccolini. If you don’t have a steamer, here is a trick: In a pot add 3 tbsp of water and add the broccolini. Let it cook over medium-low heat with the lid on. The water will evaporate and remain inside the pot giving you gentle steam.
But for this particular recipe, I chose to bake the broccolini because they will cook while the parmesan cheese melts and creates a semi-crust.
How to cook parmesan garlic broccolini in the oven?
I preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºF). To get tender-soft broccolini I let them bake for 20 minutes. This amount of time gives you vibrant green and tender bimi.
